Pediatric Radiology Series: Neuroimaging I.

Objective:

This session includes two main topics, Advances in Neonatal , which includes reviewing the patterns of MR findings in peri-natal brain injury and the current concepts in mechanisms of injury. It will also discuss the role of recent software advances (ASL, Tractography), in addition to the role of new hardware advances and multimodality imaging (Near Infrared Spectroscopy).

The second topic will be Preoperative Imaging in Epilepsy; it includes defining the role of High-Resolution MR Imaging in detecting lesions in pediatric patients with epilepsy. The session is going also to discuss the understanding of the process of workup for patients with intractable epilepsy, and choosing patients for surgical treatment.  Moreover, the session will highlight the role of imaging techniques like diffusion tensor imaging, functional MR Imaging, magnetoencephalography (MEG), SPECT and PET in the pre-surgical evaluation of patients with epilepsy.
