Time:

08:30 AM – 10:00 AM

Author:

Christian W. A. Pfirrmann, MD, Suzanne E. Anderson, PhD, BMed, and Stephen John Eustace, MD

Code: RC804

Objective:

This session reviews the imaging anatomy of the femoroacetabular articulation and identifies commonly encountered pathologies including acetabular labral tears, dysplasias, and femoroacetabular impingement. Attendees will learn the appropriate MR Imaging, MR Arthrographic and Imaging algorithms for specific indications. They will be able to identify injury patterns about the pubic symphysis including osteitis pubis, adductor tendon lesions, and the secondary cleft sign across imaging modalities and review potential Image- guided interventions. The session also discusses concepts including “athletic pubalgia”, the rectus abdominis/adductor aponeurosis and “sports hernia”, and be comfortable with an athletic pubalgia MR Imaging protocol and potential confounding causes of groin pain related to pathologies remote from both the hip and the pubic symphysis.
