Attendees will understand the pathologic processes that result in pulmonary emphysema. They will also recognize the imaging features of pulmonary emphysema with an emphasis on High-Resolution Computed Tomography (HRCT). This session describes the various surgical and non-surgical therapies for treating patients with severe emphysema and airflow obstruction. It also highlights the role that HRCT plays in assessing patients for lung volume reduction surgery (LVRS). Attendees will review basic CT signs of central airways diseases. They are going to delineate the CT findings of bronchiectasis. This session provides better understanding of the methods and their limits used for assessment of airway wall remodeling in asthma and COPD.
